The New Apple Ads Aired During the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympics Criticised by Media

The new Apple ads campaign aired during the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics have received a lot of criticism from the media.  The new Apple ads are supposed to be aimed at first time users but the negative part, according to the online chatter, is that it scares away existing Apple customers. The ads focus on the Apple Genius helping out totally incompetent users, implying that you have to be a genius to manage to work with "the most intuitive software". In case you haven't had the "pleasure" here is a preview. Sad to see Apple taking this path considering that they got all this right some time ago. Remember the great "I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC" adds? Those were also aimed at new users but managed to give existing Apple customers a totally different feeling. Here are some of the good ones. Do you have a different opinion? Leave a comment.

How to restore the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Dock to its default settings

I ran into this issue a while ago after making to many changes to my dock and wanting to restore it to its original settings. I had moved most of the icons in the dock around, resized the dock and also positioned it on the left side of the screen. As you can see the dock is missing the contacts icon, the iTunes icon and several others. It is also positioned on the left size of the screen and has been resized. Since there is no restore to defaults option under System Preferences  i found that the easiest solution is to restore the dock from the terminal. Here is how you can do that: Open a new Terminal Window (you can do this by hitting command + space and typing terminal) Type defaults delete com.apple.dock  and hit Return Type  killall Dock and hit Return This should restore your dock to its original settings, rearrange all icons in the proper order, reposition your dock at the bottom of your screen and reset its size. Here's a video demonstrating this quick method of re...
